# FlowFiles Changelog

*By James Hills — Updated October 2026*

Release notes for FlowFiles, newest first. For how to use each feature, see the FlowFiles Documentation.

### 0.14.7

- New Review page in Site tools. An AI agent can propose files to clean up. You open the proposal, untick anything you want to keep and click Go. Only your click moves anything, and the Trash keeps it for Undo.

- Each proposal shows who proposed it, why, how many items and how large, and when it expires. Every row has its size, date and reason, with Show in folder and Download.

- Rows whose file changed or went missing since the proposal are flagged and start unticked.

- Site code needs the same "I understand" tick as the ordinary bulk Trash.

- Reject a proposal with an optional note the agent can read.

- A row inside a ticked folder is shown ticked and locked, and goes with the folder. FlowFiles refuses a Go that would leave one out.

- Proposals nobody decides within 14 days expire, and decided proposals are cleaned up after 90 days.

- FlowFiles measures size and date itself and never trusts the agent's numbers. A request with anything wrong in it is refused as a whole.

### 0.14.6

- Every row in the file list now has a checkbox, and the header has one too. Ticking a box selects the row and keeps your other selections. Shift-click on a box selects a range.

- The header checkbox is half-filled when only some rows are selected.

- The new column stays visible on narrow windows.

- Includes Space 1.0.6.

### 0.14.5

- Includes Space 1.0.5. No change to the file manager itself.

### 0.14.4

- "Restore as a copy" now says what came back in plain words, for example "Restored copy, 9 Oct, saved next to the original."

- Documentation now notes that the Trash and Backups stay private only on a server that honors `.htaccess` rules.

### 0.14.3

- Space can now answer "what is in this folder", listing every file with the biggest first and a note on each. Includes Space 1.0.4, which needs this version.

- Move all N results to the Trash in one step from a result list, with Undo.

- "Open Logs page" link beside a log's name in the viewer and in the Shrink dialog.

- The FlowDB snapshot folder is now a protected store, like the Trash and Backups.

- In result lists the Folder column is cut at its start, so similar paths no longer look the same.

- A page that refreshes during a running job keeps your tab and scroll position.

### 0.14.2

- Every site tool (Space, Logs, Trash, Backups and Add-ons) has its own full page with a title, toolbar and a Back to files button. Old bookmarks land on the right page.

- "Analyze this folder" opens a small summary with an Open full page link.

- New Backups page. Backups are kept in `administrator/flowfiles-backups`, which the web server never serves. You can Download, Restore as a copy (never over the current file) and Delete, singly or several at once.

- Backups are kept 30 days and up to 1 GB by default, both adjustable. The oldest are removed first, and each removal is logged.

- Old copies that earlier versions left beside logs can be moved into Backups in one click.

- The Trash page gains search, sorting, a checkbox per item, Restore N, Delete N forever and Empty Trash.

- The Space page puts Show in folder, Download and Move to Trash on each of the largest files, plus "Scan the whole site".

- Findings is hidden until an add-on that finds things is switched on, instead of showing an empty page.

- Includes Space 1.0.3 and Logs 1.4.0.

### 0.14.1

- Site-wide tools (Findings, Space, Logs, Trash, Add-ons) now sit together in a "Site tools" row. The folder toolbar keeps only what acts on the current folder.

- FlowFiles tools appear in Joomla's admin menu under Components, then FlowFiles.

- New Sort button: Name, Size, Modified or Permissions, with the direction in words. Works at any screen width.

- "Analyze this folder" on the toolbar.

- Logs: View newest entries, with an Oldest first switch.

- Reduce is now Shrink, one dialog for every way to make a file smaller, grouped by what happens and saying exactly what is removed.

- The Space report is redesigned, with clickable "Where the space is" bars and Largest files, By type and By age tabs. Numbers older than 7 days turn amber.

- Dialogs fill a phone's screen, and buttons are larger to tap.

- Fixed: some buttons in add-on panel headers and footers reloaded the page instead of working.

- Fixed: the folder toolbar now stays on one line on laptop-width screens.

- Includes Space 1.0.2 and Logs 1.3.0.

### 0.14.0 - 2026-10-08

- FlowFiles now installs as one package, `pkg_flowfiles`, containing the file manager, the Space and Logs add-ons and a scheduled task for add-on jobs. Installing the package over separate installs keeps your Trash, scans, add-on choices and download key.

- Work on many files at once, across folders. FlowFiles shows how many, how large, where, and which items are site code, and asks for an "I understand this includes site code" tick when needed. If a step fails, "Trash the remaining" continues from where it stopped. One Undo restores the batch.

- New Findings: ranked cards for large files, leftovers, duplicates and logs that grew, each with Show in FlowFiles, Select these and Move to Trash.

- Result sets: files from many folders can be shown in the main list with a Folder column.

- PHP files are syntax-checked before saving. A file with an error is not saved, the editor names the line, and Save anyway is available and logged.

- Editor status line: line and column, language, encoding and line endings. The header shows the full path, size and "Runs on the server" for executable code.

- New Properties view for any item, with exact size, dimensions, dates and permissions in words.

- Move to... and Copy to... from any row.

- Add-on cards show the installed version, the newer listed version, and clear Incompatible and Files missing states.

- Cleaner screen in light and dark mode, with item-type icons, a main action on every row and a "..." menu for the rest. Permissions move into Properties on screens narrower than 1400 pixels.

- No more browser pop-ups. Every question is asked in FlowFiles' own dialog and says what will happen and to how many items.

- Feedback is a single line at the top, with Undo and "Open the Trash" links.

- Empty folders offer New folder and Upload. A search that finds nothing says what was searched and offers to clear it.

- Fixed: the Add-ons box showed raw language keys instead of names and descriptions.

- Fixed: selected rows and the current folder were hard to read in dark mode.

- Security: add-on actions on a selection work on a snapshot of exactly what you confirmed, tied to your session. Add-on text is always shown as text, not markup.

### 0.13.2 - 2026-10-07

- A backup copy can no longer fill the disk. Free space is checked when the copy runs, and the copy is refused if it would leave too little.

- Only one copy of a file is made at a time. A retry now waits instead of starting a second full copy.

- Keeping the last part of a file is crash-safe. If the request is interrupted, the original is left untouched.

- Fixed: switching an add-on to the state it was already in wrongly said "not installed".

- Includes Logs 1.1.2. Update FlowFiles first.

### 0.13.1 - 2026-10-07

- Security hardening: a path is now used where it was checked, and link changes made by other processes are seen immediately. This narrows a known race condition but does not fully close it.

- A backup copy never replaces a file that appears while the copy is being made. Backups now need a filesystem that allows hard links.

- Opening a folder through a folder link now shows its real path in the address bar and breadcrumb. It is the same place on disk.

### 0.13.0 - 2026-10-06

- Delete now moves files and folders to the Trash instead of destroying them. It is instant and uses no extra space until the Trash is emptied.

- Undo on the notice after every delete. A bulk delete is one batch, so one Undo restores everything.

- New Trash panel showing where each item came from, when, by whom and its size, with Restore, Delete forever and Empty Trash.

- Restore never overwrites. If the original path is taken, the item returns as `name (restored)`.

- Items are deleted forever after a set number of days (30 by default; 0 keeps them until emptied).

- Nothing in the Trash can be served or run from the web.

### 0.12.0 - 2026-10-05

- Long add-on jobs, such as scanning a very large folder, now run as a series of short steps with progress shown in between.

### 0.11.0 - 2026-10-05

- Fixed: big folders showed an arbitrary 200 entries and gave no way to reach the rest. The list now shows the real first 200, sorted across the whole folder.

- Load more in the file list and the folder tree, with a "Showing 200 of 3,923" counter.

- Search this folder: a name search across the whole folder.

- Go to path: type a path or paste a URL.

- Sorting and the type filter now work across the whole folder, not just the loaded page.

- Large folders list quickly. A 55,000-entry folder lists in about 0.3 seconds.

- Invalid sort, filter or search input is refused instead of being quietly replaced.

### 0.10.1 - 2026-09-29

- Fixed: after an upgrade, browsers could keep running the previous version of the interface. Updates now reach the browser.

- The size choices in the Reduce dialog now scale to the file, so a small log is no longer offered only "empty it".

- Fixed: a PHP protective block at the top of a log is now kept when the log is emptied.

### 0.10.0 - 2026-09-29

- The Truncate button now opens a Reduce dialog that asks how you want to shrink a file. Choices are to keep the last part by size or to empty it. Each shows roughly what would be left and what would go, and nothing happens until you confirm.

- A Joomla log's protective header is always kept.

- Logs add-on 1.1.0 adds "keep the last N days" and "back up first".

### 0.9.1 - 2026-09-28

- You can now open and view any file the editor does not know, whatever its size. The viewer is read-only and refuses binary files.

- Add-on panels can contain working forms.

### 0.9.0 - 2026-09-28

- Add-on buttons now work. Before, they appeared but failed.

- A file can be truncated to keep only its last part, starting on a whole line.

- Internal improvements to the add-on system.

### 0.8.0 - 2026-09-10

- Files above the edit size limit now open in a viewer that shows one window at a time, newest first. A 9 GB `error_log` opens in under a second.

- Truncate empties a file in place and keeps its owner and permissions. A Joomla log's protective header is kept.

### 0.7.0 - 2026-09-09

- Fixed: a bulk delete could act on the folder you were viewing instead of the folder you confirmed.

- Fixed: an upload dropped onto a folder could overwrite a file in the folder being displayed.

- Fixed: Ctrl+S could save an empty editor over a file that was still loading.

- Fixed: notices such as "Saved" and "Deleted" were wiped by the refresh that followed. They now stay until dismissed or replaced.

- Fixed: an add-on that failed to load could take the whole component down. Add-ons now load in isolation.

- Fixed: `error_log`, `README`, `LICENSE` and other files with no extension offered no Edit button.

- Fixed: the Name column could disappear on narrow screens.

- Internal improvements: stronger build checks and tests.

### 0.6.1 - 2026-09-01

- FlowFiles can now see its own update stream, so new versions appear in Joomla's Update screen. No other change.

### 0.6.0 - 2026-08-28

- Add-on panels show five clear states, including Incompatible.

- Uninstalling FlowFiles switches its add-ons off.

- The Add-ons panel shows only released add-ons, so it may look empty.

- Internal improvements: add-on events, error isolation and catalog checks.
